Hello Fellow Members,
Have been enjoying our baby taking in local cruises and car shows and been noticing exhaust leaking gradually getting louder. Found that the driver's side exhaust manifold has crack ontop of casting at intersection of rear cylinder exhaust runner to cylinder head.
It looks like this manifold had been rewelded in the past and new crack is adjacent to the old weld.
Is this a common problem with this age a vehicle?
Just beginning to look into replacement manifolds and was wondering what experiences others have had with this type of exhaust opportunity?
Thanks,
Respectfully,

Generally better to buy a replacement than to try to weld cast iron that is going to get red-hot and go through repeated thermal cycles going forward -- such welds often fail.
Used exhaust manifolds are usually available, but a little pricey and heavy (so kind of pricey to ship).
Thanks for the advice Art.
With appreciation

Many years ago, my '56 de Ville had the same issue. I was lucky to find a used manifold in a good condition. Good luck!
Hi,
I am sure I have one but am away for a week, if you can wait until I return home I will get it for you
Thanks
Michael
There's a good chance that Lexi has what you need. He's not a parts guy but just so happens to be an "obtainer" of such!

Thanks for the information and suggestions.

Glad you didn't use the term "hoarder" Chuck. I do have extras; on a spare running engine and a pair for back ups for my car. These I wish to keep, but may have another 1 or two lying around. My suggestion is to wait for Michael's return as he was in this loop before me. If Michael can't help then I can have a look to see if I have any spares left. Got rid of a lot of stuff over the last few years so not entirely sure what is on hand. But first deal with Michael. Clay/Lexi
I probably have a good 56 manifold in my collection of parts...
