I need to replace the rear main seal on my 1938 Series 75. The replacement seals, Best 5117 or Mercedes 001 997 1241, are rope seals. They are very difficult to fit in without removing the crankshaft.
Does anyone know if there are Neoprene seals that would fit and were they are available?

As far as I've found the best is the Mercedes because its graphite impregnated. That what I ended up putting in my 46 . Tim
Ask Terrill Machine. He is a part's seller and is providing such seals. Or go to the Best Gasket site.
Thanks, Roger. Terril and Best have rope seals, but I'm looking for neoprene seals. since these are much easier to slip in.
My mechanic and I did the job once with a Best rope seal, and it was really not something you want to do often.

Roger is right. Terrill sells neoprene seals.
While searching through the on-line parts catalog, I saw that the neoprene seals are not available for your car.
