trying to figure out how to remove the lock mechanism from the handle so I can have it re-chromed. Any help would be appreciated.
Page 83 of the Fisher Body Manual has photos and a description of how to do it. If you don't have a copy, I strongly recommend it. It is invaluable when doing a restoration. There's even a version of it online if you do a search for it.
There is a pin (about 1/16" diameter) in the shaft (cross drilled) holding the lock mechanism in. It is near the end but before the lock pin that moves when you turn the key.
Thanks guys. I have that manual but didn't think to look through it. I'll check it out tonight and look for that pin Brad mentioned.
