Good morning,
While my transmission is doing alright for now I've noticed its leaking semi-steadily and it tends to not want to shift easily from 3rd into 4th gear. While its okay now I think after 65 years and nearly 95k miles it might be time to have her rebuilt. Does anyone here have a shop they'd recommend for a rebuild here in the east valley of Phoenix? Also with regards to rebuild kits does anyone here recommend a vendor? Thank you.
Verify your fluid is still red? I have had great sucess with Lucas transmission elixir. Also your transmission might need a linkage adjustment?
Past all that, I have used DENNYS transmission for decades, they reduced to one valley location but it's near suncity on grand Ave. Ask for Sean
I might coordinate a schedule on such a project as those old transmission jobs are not 'typically' prioritized.
Transmission fluid is still bright red and I top it off with Dextron/Mercon fluid from NAPA. The transmission not grabbing is more prevalent during a hard acceleration moreso than cruising so I stick to that. Although Sun City is all the way on the other side of town I'll look into Dennys and also your Lucas recommendation. Thanks!
You may wish to check with Mr. Dave Riccio at Tri-City Transmission in Tempe.

Just a suggestion,
The red fluid is a very good indicator.
Under heavy acceleration there is accelerator linkage to facilitate a down shift (TV ROD) and if that's not adjusted correct the transmission will hunt (slip) between #3 and #4 speeds.
As a quick guide to adjust,
car off!
floor the accelerator and set the downshift lever/ linkage on the transmission to a fully pulled situation. Fix it there.
Sometimes with replacement carpets and padding the accelerator travel can be restricted.
