Post by: dennisspeaks on December 31, 2023, 08:45:43 PM
Can someone help me decode the data plate for my 39 Cadillac.

Thanks in advance.

Happy New Year!

Style No. means 1939 series 61 convertible coupe. 67 is code for convertible coupe.
Body No. means your car is the 344th 6167 made in 1939 out of a total of 350.
Trim No. 35 means red leather interior. I couldn't find what the 7 means
Paint No. 51 means Black exterior. With black there were 3 choices for wheel color, Black, Triton Green, or Corsican Red. The pinstripe color for all wheels was Pale Gold Bronze.

If you get the build sheet for your car from GM it might tell what the 7 means in the trim No. There is info on how to obtain that on the CLC website.

Thanks Tom,

Nice confirmation, I guessed it was a 61 from looking at other cars online and 344 as I heard there were 350.  Nice to know the additional details.  Yes I will have to get the build sheet.  Hopefully I can find a fuel tank replacement.

I appreciate you.

Cheers!

Matt & Ron were never able to determine what it meant.

Thank you Bob for passing that on. If they could not figure it out then I'm not going to worry about it.

For Dennis, Matt Larson and Ron VanGelderen are deceased club members who literally wrote the book on Lasalle. Their book is for sale on the CLC website.

The build sheet still might tell you if there was anything unique about your interior. You probably already know everything on the build sheet but they are interesting anyway.

Tom,

Actually no, I know every little about this car and don't have the build sheet yet, but I am learning so I can have her as a cruiser this spring.
