Title: 1941 Master Cylinder Gasket Material
Post by: J. Russo on January 07, 2024, 02:42:10 PM
I have the original master cylinder on my 1941 Series 63. I made a gasket with EPDM rubber a couple years ago but it broke down over time.

I read an older post on the forum where some folks use a fiber gasket on the filler cap.

I haven't found any pre-cut gaskets for this master cylinder. I did find fiber gasket material online, but could anyone recommend a specific brand/type that they use?

Thanks!

Most north American manufacturers used that style of master cylinder for a long time. First thing I would do is find an established parts store and see if they have something in stock that would fit. Failing that,
most auto parts stores of any size will sell gasket material kits or you may be able to just buy a sheet of cork gasket material on its own and make your own.

I have a sheet of cork material. I don't know if cork is the right material to use with brake fluid.

John, My car has a brass flat washer. I have seen this type on others also.

I found the cap gasket here. The part number is the same as the one listed in my Cadillac master parts book.
