Quick question
i have a 59 cadillac flatop. why are there staples in the id tag
the car is black but the paint code is showing silver
anyone help
G'day Michael,
The plate reveals that it was a Special Option Vehicle, Hence the SO stamped into it.
The Staples would have held the cardboard listing of what the Special Option was, but, over the years, water has degraded it, and the visible paper has come off.
You will need to get the Build Sheet to see what the Special "thing" is.

PS. You have an email from the Administrators that requires your attention.
I'm curious to see what option this is as your car appears to be loaded.

The SO is for TRIM a/k/a interior, not the paint. The exterior color change was done later and has nothing to do with the SO. If the interior is still original, the SO might be able to be determined. Please post a good assortment of interior images.
build sheet usually provided will not show actual "SO"
you need the order sheet specific to that car
Neighbor has a SO car. Its a 1960 CDV in Olympic White with a burgundy interior. Really weird but striking combo.

Agree. My experience is that they normally will not show SO items. Was also borne out in my case. Just the staples left. Clay/Lexi

You still have not got it right.
Please re-read the email.

Leather was not a standard interior selection on DeVilles therefore special order was required to get it. Otherwise the SO has nothing whatsoever to do with the color change which was done at some point after the car had been built.
