I've seen multiple posts that include a video or 2 of the Hydra-Matic transmission History from Professor John Kelly. I thought I'd post the series in case anyone is interested.
The last video explains automatic transmission fluid.

John,
I've only watched the Part 1 video, but it is fantastic.
So much history and presented in a manner that is easy to follow.
This series is going to surely fill holes in my knowledge about automatic transmissions.
Thanks for gathering all the pieces in such an easily usable package.
Have fun,
Steve B.
Really great videos.

Thank you John,
I also like that Professor John used a 1949 Cadillac transmission that was donated to his school by a local body shop that was doing a modern upgrade to a 1949 Cadillac, they also donated the engine.
COOL stuff

Yah, I watched those a while ago. Very good.
