Title: 1978 Biarritz vinyl top
Post by: Steve56 on September 16, 2024, 12:43:04 PM
Has anyone removed the vinyl top on a 78 Eldorado Biarritz? I was wondering if the vinyl top was attached to some type of fiber glass frame or is it attached directly to the steel top of the car? I am getting ready to remove it in a few weeks. Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you.

There is a fiberglass shell that goes underneath the vinyl that makes the rear window smaller and the opera windows look a bit different than the regular Eldorado.  I did not take photos of the process since I had a shop replace the vinyl on mine.  Expect some surface rust to be dealt with.  I don't recall if the Fisher Body Service Manual or Chassis Service Manual shows a drawing of this, but I seem to recall seeing a drawing in one of them.

Thanks for the information, there is a diagram in the service manual, but it's not very detailed.
