Title: 1976 Cadillac Sedan DeVille Window Belt Line
Post by: cadillac91 on September 29, 2024, 09:37:34 PM
The inner and outer window belt line can be accessed by taking off the top part of the door panel.  The inner is held on by staples.  The outer is held on by screws.  However, the window will not lower enough to get to all of the screws.  How do you remove the outer belt line without removing the window?  I could not find any instructions in the service manual.  Thanks!

PS:  I checked "Notify me of replies", but I never receive a notification by email that a reply has been made from this forum. Nothing received via In-Box, Junk or Span folders.  Is the issue on my end or the forum site?  Thanks!

It's been my experience that to get to all the screws on the outer belt strip you have to remove the glass from the door.
Unfortunately, this means you will need to also remove the lower door panel to gain access.

Another way to access the outer screws is to lower the "down stops" and completely lower the glass.   This way you don't have to remove the glass.
