I have a few old 4 barrel carbs that have been stored for a long time. They need major cleaning and rebuilding. If it was minor cleaning I'd use a spray can,and be done.
I looked at eBay they offer two ways to dip clean them.
1) A chemical bath of 3/4 of a gallon. This seems too small. Or do you do one end at a time?
2) Ultrasonic Bath. Small ones for coins/jewelry and bigger for carbs. Do they work well on carbs or is that sellers talk?
If anyone has used either method ,how long does a bath work ,before you need a clean solution?

You can buy a 5 gallon buket of carb cleaner if you want to spend couple hundred dollars.

I've used acetone to soak and clean carburetors.
I've had some aluminum parts corrode using acetone so I tend to try staying away from using it.
If you only have a carb to clean, I'd just use a plastic brush with carb cleaner.
If you clean a lot of parts, an ultrasonic cleaner is the way to go. You can find them pretty cheap on amazon along with the cleaning liquid. Timing on when it is done and what the liquid looks like will fluctuate depending on how dirty the parts you're cleaning are. It is a great tool that saves a lot of time, however some of them are big, you need to drain it once you're done and to me only makes sense to get if you're going to use it more than a few times a year.
