Title: Caddy saved from Palisades fire
Post by: MidModCad on January 19, 2025, 03:32:24 PM
With the Palisades fire fast approaching on the 6th the choice was stark. Evacuate in my daily driver or take my '61 Caddy coupe. Not really a choice. Filled the big trunk and back seat with everything I could, leaving just hours before the firestorm consumed the entire neighborhood. So the old girl is now all we've got left in the world. I'm parking it outside for the moment, and I'm wondering if anyone has a car cover they're not using for my model/year?  If so, please let me know what you'd want for it.  Thanks.

I'm sorry to hear this. Glad you saved your car. My brother's house on Country Club Drive got burnt to the ground, he saved his guitars, laptop and passports.
I hope the authorities help rehome you soon.
Phil

Glad you are safe. If I had such a cover I would gladly just give it to you. If a member does have one to spare their first problem will be how to get it to you. I imagine it would have to be a local pick up or perhaps mailed to an alternative address? God bless. Clay/Lexi

Glad you made the right choice and saved the 1961 and she saved you with her big trunk & back seat.

Have you tried to reach out to SoCal or NorCal CLC regions if someone closer to you might have an extra car cover?

Thanks so much for your heartfelt replies.  I'm in the process of checking with the local chapters, but nothing yet.  Nor cal is a great suggestion.  Sorry to hear about your brother, Phil.  Seems like half the people I meet these days have lost their homes.  Really an unthinkable catastrophe.  When I get settled, the search for a new spare wheel begins.

There's not much I can do for anyone as I'm in England, but I really hope things get sorted out for you and everyone soon.

I have one for my 69 Deville that I'd be happy to mail to you. I'm in N. California so it should get there quickly.

Thanks for that offer.  Really nice of you.  I decided to go ahead and order one, arriving today. Fingers crossed it's decent quality.

I can send you my old sun cover from the Toro I just sold, but it appears that you have that covered now.

MidModCad,

I was recently shopping for a few new covers and reached out to one of the bigger car cover companies when you posted last week.  Just got a response today and they are offering a 50% off a new custom cover for you.

Check your email, I sent phone number and contact info for the Sales Rep.
