Title: Grand National onsite registration
Post by: Art Director on February 11, 2025, 06:34:37 PM
UPDATE: On Sunday, June 1, Grand National registration is scheduled to open at the Embassy Suites in Murfreesboro. You may register for the event and register your car for display only, no judging. You may also purchase any available tour and event tickets, subject to availability, as we must give advance head counts to the hosting venues. There is one ticket left for the Tuesday Cars, Cars, Cars tour and fewer than 10 tickets left for the Grand Ole Opry on Friday night.

As for registration capability, the website is shut down and there's nothing the registrar can do until Registration opens June 1 at 12 noon local time in Murfreesboro. You are invited to request the registrar send you the paper registration form and fill it out before you get to the host hotel in order to save time. Cynthia Rutledge, cyndiann1@hotmail.comSee you in Murfreesboro!

********

Tickets are going fast for the Murfreesboro Grand National tours. In fact, so fast that the What's Up? Nashville tour on Thursday, June 5, and the Best of Murfreesboro tour on Saturday, June 7, have already sold out, and no more buses can be added due to a country music awards event in Nashville.

Register now at http://gn.cadillaclasalleclub.org (http://gn.cadillaclasalleclub.org/), don't be disappointed and miss out on the other tours! All tour details are at http://cadillaclasalleclub.org/gn (http://cadillaclasalleclub.org/gn) or in your January issue of The Self-Starter.

Prices went up after earlybird registration closed May 2, so get registered before the prices are even higher during onsite registration at the GN.

New for 2025, the Olds Club of America made reservations @ the host hotel contingent on registering for their National Event.

Often their host hotel room block (discounted price / prime location) would sell out and registered event attendees would be forced to find accommodations elsewhere. Will be interesting to hear the results of this experiment.

Good idea, but how can it be enforced? People will now lose their deposits if they cancel or no-show for the Murfreesboro GN. Too bad the deposit is only for one night.

How is it enforced?  Sounds like a labor intensive process by the Registrar but heck with advances in AI perhaps something easier will be available in future years.

As I understand, once your OCA Nationals Registration has been processed, your name is provided to the Host Hotel as being allowed to book as part of their Room Block.

OCA historically has had A LOT of attendees who show up and don't register for the event.  I don't believe it is as much of an issue with the CLC but will be interested to hear how it works out for the OCA.  Also what happens to those persons with reservations at the CLC host hotel but not registered for the GN.

I got it done - just under the wire.
We weren't planing on the best of and our preferred date for what's up was the 4th, so all is good.

I haven't been to a GN since 2012. This one is a LOT further away. I hope this one turns out better.

BTW, Friday the 6th is the 81st Anniversary of the D-DAY landings. I WILL be wearing one of my 80th anniv caps (with my Airborne wings and BSM) and polos from last June when I was in Normandy for thet 80th anniversary.

2012 was the last GN I was at too. That was only a 5 hour ride. This one upcoming is a 12 hour ride. Concord will be closer to 9 hours.

It would be interesting to know how the OCA handled the reservations system, since we are at the same hotel next year.

If you see people not wearing name tags wandering the show field and swap meet, you know they didn't register. But it's a free world and nothing we can do since the car show is open to the public. But they are not supposed to be able to access any seminars, the Hospitality Suite, or even any ticketed events without a name tag.

Marsha recently contacted all those with rooms reserved in the block but not registered for the GN to remind them to register. You may remember we used to limit members to two rooms. We can't do that any longer due to rules in hotel loyalty programs. Then, you have attrition as people cancel. This year, there is a one night's deposit forfeited if they cancel within 45 days of their booked first night. But any deposit forfeiture depends on the host hotel's policies.

I think there may be quite a few people that are watching the weather closely. Paying the extra $$$ may be better than not going and losing what you did pay if you pre-registered.

Bumping this back to the top. There will be onsite registration in Murfreesboro available. If a vehicle is registered onsite, it will be accepted for display only, not judged.

The website is shut down and there's nothing the registrar can do until Registration opens June 1 at 12 noon local time in Murfreesboro.

Log into the January self-starter online or pull out your paper copy; information about the events and a printed registration form are available there.
