Is it just me or when you see pics of the 2025 Escalade by themselves they don't look like the giant truck based monsters they are? By the numbers they are still big on the outside. What is it about the styling that makes em look smaller? Giant rims? 24 in some cases apparently? All the curves? Does that just throw the scale off? Was making them look small or average what they were going for?
Then whats up with the interiors? Review people are all commenting on how considering its overall size there isn't that much room inside? They are saying many of the midsize and even smaller SUV's are more comfortable especially for tall and fat people and most of them can also carry more cargo? This just seems backwards. Wasn't it in the 80's they started figuring out how to get the most out of the least amount of space and its more about having the space in the right places?
I was just closing some of the site with pictures I was looking at and it seems like many of the ones I was looking at were the IQ which is the electric version. When you see them side by side the IQ appears to sit lower to the ground so I think that may be a lot of what makes me think it looks like the small and mid size stuff that really dominates the roads these days. Many of those tend to sit lower so that is probably what is making me think of those smaller units.
Is the fairly massive flatish front also helping with that look? Maybe its not so much looking small it just looks more like ever other one which for the most part are not especially large?
No one else has a thought on this? I'm really curious if its just me or what. I don't think I have seen one in person so I am curious to see what my impression is when I do actually see one.
Don't forget that what you are probably seeing is an artists' rendition to make them look better.
When looking at advertisements as against actual pictures from years gone by, the adds always looked wider and lower. All the tricks of the artist and camera.

Maybe a month ago we saw a brand new Escalade on the highway and we discussed that it looked smaller. Driving our Suburban at the time.
Pulled alongside and size seemed comparable (length).

Actually, they employ atry-farty consultants to specify what colours are "in vogue" to paint their plain and cookie-cutter, computer-generated vehicles that end up all looking the same, making one have to read the badge to figure out what brand it is.
Plus, I, like a lot of people cannot afford to buy a new car, as they are priced so high.

I was in for service on my XT6 and the dealer had 2 new Escalade on the floor. One was around $140,000 and the other $180,000. I found it similar in size to the prior year and the Chevrolet. The service manager says they weigh about 11,000 pounds and they have to use their truck lift to pick it up. 24 inch tires. Massive looking front end.
11,000 pounds? I thought I saw the electric one was like 8500? So the gas one is that much heavier? I was thinking 7000 was getting in the pretty chunky side of things. $180 is also quite a price.
So up close they look big? It must be if its a wider or more distant shot or view maybe you loose some of the other scale references?

I just looked the weight up online and you are closer to the published number, so I don't know where they came up with the number they told me?? But it is a big vehicle and it's full of electronics. Nothing I'm interested in.
If the theoretical base price is $87,595 and they have some for almost twice that they have to literally bulk them up to justify that price? Maybe that's the fully armored model?
Dually pickup these days are also in the 8000 range. The HMMWV (humvee) was 5200-8500 depending on the options and the replacement JLTV 14,000 so that kinda gives you an idea what things could weight.
At this point even if I had that kind of money not something I would be interested in but I could also say that about the 79-85 Eldo's. At the time no way but 20 years later I ended up owning and daily driving 2 of them. Its doubtful that any of the tech including the drivetrain will still be working on a anything from the 2020's in the 2040's but who knows....
