Hello all!
I'm trying to improve the operation of the driver's window on my '75 Eldorado. It goes down fine, and starts to go up fine, but about 2/3rds of the way up it slows down significantly, and sometimes needs help to reach the top. I've looked for obstructions, lubricated the tracks, and replaced the window motor.
What appears to be happening is that as the window rises the rear bottom corner dips down causing the window to rise at a slight angle. If I hold the back of the window up manually (gently), it does better, although it does vibrate more.
Can anyone provide guidance on how to adjust the regulator or perhaps the various pads and braces I see to correct this? For example, in the two attached pictures, the bolt location on the bottom plate looks inconsistent, and the padded guides look a bit loose as well.
All thoughts appreciated. Thank you in advance!
Firstly, the Shop Manual, that is the Fisher Body Service Manual describes the adjustment perfectly. You do have the Manual?
I got mine working beautifully. Plus, don't forget to use the proper lubricant.
One thing I did find when I replaced my weatherstrips on my '72 Eldo was that the glass got caught up against the new rubber, and when lowering the window with the door closed, the friction would simply grab the rubber and pull it down into the door. Until I fixed it, I would have to open the door to lower the glass.
The only way to allow it to slide was to get some Silicone Spray, as in "Slipicone", and carefully wipe the rubber down which removes the release agent that is there during the manufacturing process.

I do have the body manual and will take a look. It did seem to get worse when I replaced the weatherstripping so maybe something to investigate there as well. Thank you!!
All is well - after referencing the manual I adjusted the "Window Belt Trim Retainers" per page 5-75 and thereabouts in the 1975 Fisher Body Manual so that the soft part better contacted the window throughout its journey. I also greased rollers and silicone-d the pole and weatherstripping, and it seems to operate completely, and far more smoothly.
I did grease and reinstall the OE window motor - it seemed to be ok and the aftermarket one did not inspire me with confidence in its quality. Now that I've drilled the holes to access the bolts it's a fairly easy replace in the future if needed.
I'm likely going to pull the passenger door panel in the near future to replace the door lock solenoid (I purchased a set a while back, I believe from a forum member, and only installed the driver's side - hard to find parts!), and may perform a similar operation to ward off future issues.
Congratulations.
As the saying goes, if all else fails, read the Manual.
