Does anyone know where I can source Genuine GM Delco parts not garbage made in China ?. I spent the extra money to buy new Delco brake drums for my car. When they arrived the boxes said made in China. When I put them on my car and applied the brakes the car jumped and bobbed because they were so out of round. I had to pay a machine shop $35.00 each to turn down the new drums. I want to buy a new set of points rotor and cap as well as new spark plugs but I don't want to buy made in China Delco in name only junk.
Sadly this is what happens when businesses outsource in the name of the all mighty dollar. Try to source NOS or perhaps Caddy Daddy has em?
I don't know about brake drums, but I've found Delco points for my '49 on ebay. Rotors and caps, too. A '49 Cadillac originally used AC 48X or 46-5 plugs, which are no longer made. The modern equivalent is
AC R45S which I think are made in the USA and available in any parts store.
I bought a voltage regulator at Brillman.com for my '41 last week.
It advertised as made in USA.
This is a guy I have run across on several forums including AACA. He is a vendor for large range of NOS mechanical parts. I bought some brake parts for a mustang from him.
Craig Studnick 516 485 1935 mobileparts@yahoo.com I am sure he has heard your story before.
Thank You Gentlemen

Glad to learn that Craig is still around. Bought a lot from him in the past and he always was a source for original, quality parts. Clay/Lexi
Check the ads from several Cadillac parts vendors in The Self-Starter.
If your looking for Delco ignition points D106P & tested condensers i have them, I also rebuild distributors and test them on one of my Sun distributor machines to insure they meet there stock data points for advance @ the correct RPM.
All my points woes went away 15 years ago when a friend of mine with a large collection replaced the points in my '41 (since sold), my '47, my '58, and the big problem dual point Pierce Arrow with PERTONIX. Fast starts, more power, no sitting on the side of the road with closed up points, or improperly adjusted dual points. I don't understand why more people haven't made this change
Only non OEM part on my car is also Pertronix. Done that about 6 or 7 years ago and no issues. I got tired of climbing over the engine to change the points. Also, no dizzy cam lobe wear now as nothing rubs on it. These older GM distributors on many of our vintage Cadillacs are in an awful spot to service. Clay/Lexi
There is no more USA made Delco. In fact, if you look up the country of most parts for sale these days, they're from China. They try to skirt around it by saying it is assembled in the US or packed in the US, but it's made in China. I saw an ad for Delco on Facebook. The response to people calling them out about China items or asking where the items were made, was always "our parts are produced in various countries around the world" instead of just stating the obvious.
And then you have to watch out for counterfeit parts. I just bought 6 expensive Bosch pink-top injectors for a vehicle of mine. Boxes are OEM, stickers are OEM; the injectors? - fake. There were no production numbers on them like the originals, spray pattern terrible and one didn't even work.
Best thing I try to do is just be patient and wait until something NOS or used OE pops up, usually on ebay unfortunately.

Amen. I dread going through my 59 as its a pain to get to and snap back into place.
I have NOS Delco Remy points that have had any corrosion removed from sitting in there boxes for 40-50 years and have been tested for resistance they are better quality . As far as conversions in the last 45 years I have used them all MSD 6A failed twice, Crane, F.A.S.T Pertronicx igniter one & igniter two in my GTO Cadillac & IH 549 farm truck. most have failed and left me sitting along side the road on till i installed a set of points & condenser i kept in the glove box. except the Pertronicx igniter two, i used them in the 549 IH & GTO. I took them out of the GTO to try a F.A.S.T with adj rev limiter after three years that started acting up occasionally you could here it in the exhaust and see it on the scope and then again when i tested the dist on my distributor machine. I installed NOS points & tested condenser & problem was solved. If i was going to run a conversion again it would be the Pertronicx igniter two. It is convenient not to have to lean over the engine to install & adj points , But remember most of this stuff is made in China. Keep a set of points & condenser in your glove box it may save you a $400.00 tow bill.
I put a Pertronix Igniter II in my '59 dizzy and 10 years with no issues. I also used the FlameThrower coil made for that unit.
On my '76 with the HEI, I keep a spare module in the trunk along with the tools to change it. I was bitten once.
I also used the Flame Thrower coil. Some say that it is really not needed, but I went with what Pertronix recommended. No issues so far after some 7 years. Clay/Lexi
If you are going to change it, do it completely. Those parts are designed to work with each other.
The dwell and timing never moved after that.
