Title: A couple of obscure’60 bumper issues
Post by: David Greenburg on March 21, 2025, 03:20:59 AM
A couple of odd issues I found after removing my '60 rear bumper. The rubber seal that goes on top of the rear grille is missing, and one side of the grille seems to be missing the attaching rail for that seal, assuming it's similar to the arrangement on a '59. The top edge of the grille vertical piece on that side just ends with a flat straight edge that appears machine-made; it does not look like anything was cut off. Is the channel portion somehow a separate part that is missing? On the side that does have the channel it certainly does not appear to be a separate part. This is probably not critical; I've made it 12 years without noticing the seal is missing, but as long as everything is apart I'd like to remedy whatever I can.

Second question concerns the small adjustment studs located at the bottom edge of the rear quarter panel. Does anyone know if these are supposed to have rubber bumpers on them? Mine do not, but it seems like a good idea to put something on the heads to help reduce rattles.
