Title: Is This a LaSalle Transmission?
Post by: 57 Eldo Seville on March 27, 2025, 03:38:54 PM
Can anyone possibly identify this transmission?  I believe that it came out of an Allard but I don't have much information.

Thanks!

It looks like a Cadillac/LaSalle transmission that has been modified.

I believe that it came out of a 1952 Allard J2X.

It looks like they removed the Cadillac/LaSalle rear housing and shortened the transmission's rear shaft. Also, the bell housing as well as the clutch fork seem to have been modified, though I'm not sure.

I guess that is what had to be done to install a Cadillac motor in an Allard.  As far as I can remember, some Allards use Cadillac 331 motors and some use Ford Flathead V8 motors.

Good information!  He owned two Cadillac powered Allards (J2X and K2) as well as a Chrysler Hemi powered K3.
