Title: Someone please stop Bob Williams
Post by: Big Fins on May 13, 2025, 11:14:35 AM
To Any Management of the CLC:

Would it be possible for someone to contact Bob Williams of Cadillac Creampuffs and request that he stop soliciting CLC members wanting them to sell him their cars? I have deleted 4 voicemails from my business phone, 3 from my personal phone and blocked his number from both.

Even though the numbers are blocked, the voicemails still go through and his 1 minute messages tie up valuable space in the voicemail apps. He got both of my numbers through the CLC Directory. This is in direct violation with the Club rules in the usage of the Directory for personal financial gain.

Any assistance in this would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Is that the 97 year old?  I sent him pictures of my '47, and he called me a week later asking for them again.  I haven't heard from him since.  I didn't realize he does this all the time.

This has been an ongoing problem. He stopped for a while after being warned and has since resumed.

I will contact him. We are also working on a Forum Code of Conduct, that new members will need to accept. This will give the moderators some clout to take action in the forums.

I don't know him.

Certainly, his behavior must end. But if he is 97 years of age....please be gentle.

Bob R.

Nuff said.

This applies to both the electronic and paper version of the CLC International Member Directory

and also access to information in the online Membership search.

He has called me a couple of times, and I get E-Mails from him occasionally. He doesn't bother me or offend me. He is 97 years old. If this makes him happy, why not leave him be?

Maybe you are right Alan  We could tell him to slow down a little maybe, not be quite so aggressive

Alan...Nevertheless it's violation of Club rules and they apply to everybody. While I agree nobody takes pleasure in the censure/expulsion of a member in their 90s, it's also not good when members are expressing annoyance. Hopefully, Stefan's intervention will help resolve the matter.

While I wouldn't leave on account of these actions, I would however take it up with the caller and not the Club. I asked for intervention from the Club simply because it's a violation of policy. If it were me doing it, I would expect someone to bring this to my attention.

IF I manage to reach 97 years of age and that chance is getting slim, I may forget from day to day.

I spoke with CLC President Ronnie Hux and he plans to send a letter to Mr. Williams concerning this matter.

Let me tell ya, you can not insult this man. I got absolutely tired of him contacting me over & over about wanting my car even when I told him I was in the hospital and did want him bothering me. I called him every single name in the book, cussed him out, threatened him with legal action and he wasn't fazed one bit, he'd try to change the subject, talk about the weather and so forth. A hustler is a hustler no matter what age you are, those that have empathy for this man probably never had to deal with him. He's a broker, he's not interested in your car for his personal self, he's has buyers lined up to make a profit off your vehicle. I sold him a vehicle and got my asking price, he then didn't disclose to his buyer the correct condition of my car to his buyer and the person was upset, he then gave the new owner my contact info and the man demanded that I give him $5k back as the car wasn't described correctly. I told him I sold the car to Bob Williams, not you, contact Bob for the $5K not me. In my eyes, he's a shady old man !!

I agree the rules are the rules. So when you get the call from him (and I have) just say I am not interested and hang up. He's 97 so time will take care of the problem.  So what's a letter or call to him going to do?  Kick him out of the CLC? Well he still has a directory. It will be good for a few years. How much longer is he going to do this?

I get harassed constantly from multiple marketers. In emails, phone calls,  etc etc. It never stops.

I say leave him alone, since you are not going to stop him, but time will soon.

I disagree, going easy or disregarding Mr. Williams' using our Directory for business purposes would set a bad precedent.

If he is allowed then why not everyone else?

That reeks of Selective Enforcement and is wrong in so many ways.

Sad, but true, even though he is 97 years old. Clay/Lexi

Sorry, I dont care how old he is.
My one time dealing with him long ago (2010) for a 59 FW was ridiculous. He wanted money for searching cars on the internet when I was doing the same, thought I was a sucker. These opportunistic, unethical sharks give the hobby a bad taste. Nothing new.
Sheister extraordinaire.

I only know of this guy by what I read on this forum. It seems the only tolerance anyone cam muster for this guy stems from his advanced age. Being as though he has no sense of shame, is he really 97 years old? Claiming you are 97 sounds like another con to deflect the consequences of bending/breaking the rules.
