I am in the process of replacing the dash and received a core dash from Just Dashes, so I am using their core not mine.
When the clock is connected I get power to the clock light all the time and now the clock not working? Power all the time even when car is off and key is not in the ignition. The only thing that kills the power is disconnecting the battery. Like a back feed of power to the clock light.
Is this a ground issue??
I checked the fuses, all other circuits on that fuse work so not the fuse.
All other lights in the car work, dash, trunk, glove box, you name it. It works.
Any ideas. Next is to check the power to the clock. Now I highly doubt the clock is bad since it was working fine before it came out. I did in error leaving out a wavy metal thin washer that sat between the clock and the dash part that you spin the clock into. Is this a ground? Also Just dashes painted that ring you spin the clock into so that bare metal is no longer showing.
Also, I am not thrilled with the dash fit around the ignition key or the the headlight switch. My old dash had a lip around the defroster vent holes. Does that lip go into the firewall vents?? It would make the dash at the windshield go up some and the rotate the lower part closer to the dash metal face closest to the passengers.
Someone told me yes, but the replacement seems not to have a lip (passenger side of dash) near the vent holes in the dash.
OK got it working.
These guys who redo the dashes cover everything in foam and vinyl. Even parts of metal on the dash that are used to ground things. Why do they not clean it off!!!!
Cleaned off the ring where the clock case touches the bare metal via a wavy washer and it worked.
So lesson learned but when am I ever going to do this again.
