Title: 65 Eldorado door help
Post by: seok on June 05, 2025, 11:44:47 PM
Can anyone confirm whether or not a 65 and 66 2dr doors are interchangeable? I Believe the skins are the same and it will physically bolt up, but will all my 65 internal hardware and glass swap over to the 66 door without issue?

I Have a 65 Eldorado in need of a passenger door (skin) as mine is in pretty bad shape. ive found a 66 door shell locally but while researching i am getting conflicting information and cant say for certain if my 65 door internals (glass, motor, etc) will mount into a 66 door or not.

thanks

Cadillac Master Parts book 1969  group 10.351 Door assembly, front, less hardware, glass and trim

   1965 coupes  RH 448 8760
   1966 coupes  RH 758 7242
These doors required drilling holes to attach moldings.

I also looked them up in a 1974 Book,to see if in later years they substituted . Still the same, and several models of the doors  were no longer available for 1965-66.

Hollander 1969 book

     1965 2dr,hardtop  1706A
           Conv        1706B
     1966 2dr,hardtop  1784A
           Conv        1784B

Note interchange A to B is limited to door less glass and vent window frame.

1706A fits 1784A as complete door only
1706B fits 1784B as complete door only

I believe you will have problems using your 1965 parts on 1966 door.

Thank you Warren. looks like i need to find a 65. I guess worse case i could try to reskin the door, or at least the lower half. problem is the body line is damaged and im not confident i have the skill to get it right.
