Title: 1955 Cadillac Continental kit
Post by: MIKIMBIN1 on June 25, 2025, 09:25:42 PM
Hi to all.
I'm looking for a Continental kit for a 1954 or 1955 Cadillac Eldorado.
Thanks

Cadillac discouraged the use of continental kits at this time. The memo I have ,may be from 1954.  A complete turn-a-round came in 1957,when they offered a factory supplied one. It was a one year offering.

The after market kits, one Cadillac claim was they made the cars sag in the rear. Be sure to get a complete kit from the same company.

Warren is correct. 1957 would be the only year for such, at least in the '50s as sanctioned by Cadillac. I think they called it the Auxilliary Wheel Carrier, or something similar. There were after market kits available, many of which were featured in the vintage Whitney Catalogs.

I myself am looking for a '56 after market kit.

Should I see any '57's I shall advise. You could always connect with Continental Enterprises in Canada. They could supply you with a generic kit and you would get all the parts you need. Finding complete vintage kits are very hit and miss. One missing part, which is common, can run a huge chunk of time and burn a hole in your wallet. Best to stick with a sure thing unless you have deep pockets and preferably metal working and machine shop skills. Clay/Lexi
