Title: transmission line shape check
Post by: dbzsjones on June 28, 2025, 12:49:20 PM
I would appreciate some feedback on the shape of these transmission cooler lines.  I think they got bent in storage, but would like to confirm before I buy replacements.
All opinions welcome.  Thank you!

If you can get a verified shape, gently massage the lines with a tubing bender until you reach the desired shape. I remember it being a real bear to replace the lines on my '59. They were held up in transit and I needed to get the engine back in.

I'm trying to fit them after installing the engine and transmission.  I think I'm going to wish I did this in a different order.  Based on the 2 clips I have, I expect them to run parallel to each other along the side of the oil pan and over the front cross member, and then the driver side one should split off, but given the current shape they won't run parallel for any meaningful distance.  Thanks for the advice, I have the tubing bender, just need the shape.

If you don't have an engine in the way, that is the way to go. If the transmission is in place, put the lines in, then connect them after you get the engine and radiator back in. They basically just hang there if I remember correctly. Where they rub together or ride against anything, split a section of 3/8" fuel line and wrap them as needed.
