Mike
Ive had this same idea for a while....but my wife hates to camp. :(
For the asking price of 25k (via Instagram) this is a steal! Camp in style, the Cadillac way!
Cadillac campers, also called housecars, with full camper bodies were made in small numbers. My Family has two. A 1956 built on a retired hearse chassis by Rosscraft of NY. And a 1957 built new. Body by Jackson Motor Yachts, a boat builder form Conn.
The biggest builder was Van Bibber Enterprises of Ohio. They converted dozens ,maybe even hundreds by some reports of low mile outdated hearses. One story claims they scraped hundreds of turbine wheels because they would break with the extra load.
Most conversions were Cadillacs, but my Mother made a notebook of ones we came across, they included Packards,Mercury,T-bird,Mercedes,even a VW Beetle.
When I go camping, I pull up to the reception desk and get the key to my Motel or Hotel room.
Bruce. >:D
