Title: ‘61 vinyl
Post by: David Greenburg on July 24, 2025, 03:01:22 AM
I need vinyl to redo the sides/edges of the driver's seat in my '61. I'm assuming SMS is one source, but is anyone aware of others? I'm already set with cloth and leather.

Look on Facebook for an account called Original Auto Fabrics. But they will want the Detroit book number for reference.

But there is a problem the 1961 Detroit Book, which is the catalog identifying interior materials with a reference number, seperates out vinyls and does not show them as brand specific. I could not find my blue vinyl for 61 in the detroit book. But SMS was able to coordinate it.

If I'm right, this company does not exist anymore. I was there maybe 30 years ago...

In Oklahoma. They just posted yesterday.

There was another one with similar name south of Port Huron Michigan that did close and sell out to SMS.

I've got an inquiry out to them. I looked at their Detroit Book, and there are some that look close enough to request samples. Although they also show the fabric there, so perhaps they can pair it up that way. The vinyls in the book are not brand-specific, so I'm basically looking at every light brown or beige sample listed for the year.
