Title: Blue Tint classic glass
Post by: Clewisiii on July 25, 2025, 08:49:54 AM
It appears that Blue tint classic glass is now gone.

My glass guy told me he has not had it in years.

Another local shop said it was not available.

I contacted Auto City Classic and he said it does not exist. I dont think he meant that it never existed. But he did not want to have a conversation about it.

This is an image of a friends car. Who had purchased a new Passenger side glass from Auto City and this was all they could provide.

It is both green and appears to be more clear. My glass guy told me that in the past both panes of the laminated glass were tinted. Now he sees for the new stuff they are only tinting one pane.

Soon my window frames will be back from the chrome shop. And I have glass bug stencils coming. I wanted my local guy to cut new glass for me and help me install it to the frames. But it looks like I will not be able to get the correct tint of glass.

I may be wrong, but I thought the tinting was done via the laminate between the two pieces of glass.

Understandable thought. But this tinted glass is only single layer. No lamination

Replacement side glass from Auto City was a perfect match for other glass on my 60 CDV side windows. I got the original EZ Eye greenish tint. Could a previous owner have put on after market tinting?

No. My glass guy confirmed both existed.
