Title: Window Build Up
Post by: Pmichel on July 28, 2025, 11:08:34 AM
Hello, attached is a picture showing some residue on the outer edges of the window. several windows on my vehicle are like this. Can someone tell me what happened, and how to fix it? I've tried scraping it off, but I can't feel it.

That is the laminate in between the sheets of glass. The atmosphere is getting to it because the edges aren't sealed properly. The best you can do is live with it or replace the glass.

It may not be pretty, but personally, I would just live with it.

The glass is difficult to remove if you go through the whole process. It is costing me a lot of money just because I am redoing all the chrome. But you run the risk of exposing rotted out lower sashes if you remove the glass and setting tape.

Look through my restoration thread from a few pages back to see disassembling the window frames.

Here is a piece of glass showing the lamination layer. This glass was completly stripped. This is only between the glass panes.
