Title: Glue for 1979 emblems
Post by: Jeff Rosansky CLC #28373 on August 11, 2025, 11:30:05 AM
Hello,

I guess the heat got to our 79 and the black glue that holds the V on the trunk has given up.
What glue did they use to attach those emblems back in the day, or what is everyone using to reattach them now?

Thanks

Clean off all the disintegrated material from the emblem and decklid and apply 3M double sided adhesive foam tape to the V emblem. Have a fresh razor handy to trim the tape to the outline of the emblem. DO NOT USE GLUE! Foam tape is how it was attached at the factory.

I hope the link works. I was logged in.

Good stuff so far as I see. I'm ready to try it on a few more things. Easy to work with but tacky as h*ll. You stick it and it's stuck.
