Title: 1948 parts sources and interchange
Post by: kkarrer on August 30, 2025, 09:11:54 PM
Hello,
My 1948 series 62 was damaged in transport, especially in the front. I think I can repair and have the bumpers replated (but I'd entertain getting another front and rear), but the following front end parts are needed: grille, one parking light surround (the thin one),the lower valance that goes behind and perpendicular to the bumper and the two aspects of the parts in front of the core support and are damaged pretty badly. The rear bumper is in three pieces, but I may be able to weld it and have it re-chromed.  I think the bumpers were the same for 48 thru 50 and perhaps those parts in front of the radiator were too.
Any help would be appreciated.

The bumpers are the same for 48 and 49, not 50.

I think the part you describe as the "valence" is called a "gravel deflector" by Cadillac.  According to my 1935-55 Parts Manual, they are unique to 1948, part number 1451817. 49 is different.

Try Desert Valley Auto Parts in Arizona or John Gately in Massachusetts, gatelyrestoration.com or Dennis Akerman in New Hampshire.
