Title: convertible VIN numbers
Post by: Jeff on January 08, 2005, 03:02:22 AM

i recently found 2 convertibles for sale,a 1960 & 1955 in reasonable condition. However when I checked the vin numbers against the information published in the CLC self starter booklet, I am left a little confused. I noticed on both cars the letter F was omitted from the vin number. For example the 60 convertible hand a vin number 60704.... Likewise the 55 convertible had a vin number 55622.... I would have thought the vin number should have been 60F04... and 55622... Could some knowledgable person please explain the reason for this?

The reason why i check the vin numbers is to make sure the cars did not start life with the letter G in the serial number!

thanks

Mike

if you look at the following Ebay item number (4516323793) this 1955 convertible has the Vin listed as 556227233. Likewise the 1960 convertible i looked at, has the vin listed on the title as 607043076.

Are these vin numbers the real deal?

Well I can tell you the title on my 60 has the VIN listed as 60A0902xx and was gotten from the plastic tab on the drivers door jam.
