Title: Wire rims for 1976 Eldorado, anyone have these?
Post by: Ross DeVore on March 02, 2005, 05:54:24 PM
I found these McLean rims ,(http://www.mcleanwheels.com/30spoke.html) They are 15 by 7 with offset of 30(mm?) Anyone use these on their car or know if theyd fit?

Thanks,

Ross

Ross,

I assume you have a 76 Eldo, I would remove a wheel and lay a straight edge across (the inside of the rim) from the rim edge and measure the distance to the mounting surface, that will determine the backset.

Try to visually determine what additional clearance is available on the inside.

I have a 66 CDV with 6 inch factory rims, Ive heard people have installed 8 inch rims on a 66 , the additional 2 inch width was added on the inside to the backset.

Wider rims on the front might interfere with the steering. You are really on your own, trial and error.
