Title: 96 Seville - Door wont Open??
Post by: Jim Baker #17705 on March 12, 2005, 10:07:30 PM
I have a relative who just bought a very nice low mileage 96 Seville STS. Everything on the car works fine,....but he cant open the rear driver side door! It worked when he first got it.

He has tried to work with the car manual and the factory security system, without success.

I dont know if something is wrong with the security system, or a mechanical problem with the door itself. Has anyone experienced anything like this before??

Any help would be appreciated...before he makes the trip to the dealer ($$$).

Be sure to check the Owners Manual about the childproof rear door lock feature--maybe someone bumped the mechanism (it is easily engaged and near the door latch).

Jim,

If you mean you cannot open a rear door from the inside with the doors unlocked but can open it from the outside, then Rich is correct.

Open the door.  There is a little white tab right next to the closing mechanism on the door itself.  It should say engaged with an arrow, slide it back.
