What year did Cadillac begin to use any form of posi-traction? Obviously my 60 is not. And then.... what about width? Would if fit?
I havent looked in the shop manuals yet, but my vote will be 1963. I once had a 63 2 door Deville with Posi on it. Thats the first I knew of Cadillac having it. BUT, I recall being in New Orleans, while a friend was ordering a new Corvette in 1958. He was on the phone with Dumas Chevrolet, and part of the vital issues was Positraction on that car. I was back home when he got the car, but I understand that it had the Posi on it. Now, Cadillac and other divisions could have picked up on it later. The parts books and shop manuals will have the answer.
Now, as far as conversions go, you just about have to go from one car to another with a measure and check them out. Rear axles are changed all over all the time.
A look at the parts book gives some interesting possibilities. The controlled differential came out in 1962. But , the carriers for non-controlled fit 59-62. Since the posi parts are all in the carrier , you MAY be able to just put the 62 carrier in a 59 -61 and have a posi. car. Any one ever try it? Warren
Gday Warren,
I have a 66 diff, complete with LSD, and was wondering if you knew what other Cadillac years the centre would fit?

Greetings,
1960 Oldsmobile Super 88 had it. I recall owning one and remember a sticker on the inside of the glove box indicating it.
My 64 Old 98 Luxury Sedan, which actually was a 4 door 6-window hardtop, has a limited slip unit, a 3.23 I believe.

The master parts book says 66&67 on the iterchange HTH Bob
Thanks Bob,
That limits the useage of it here in Australia. Bit heavy and bulky to move it anyway.

I had a 62 Coupe Deville with an accessory book that indicated Limited Slip was a new option that year. Forget what the "marketing" name was
