My '78 Seville Elegante ran perfectly when I parked it three days ago, but would not start yesterday. It has only 17,029 miles. Battery seems to be okay, and jump starting was not successful. Lights dim and odd clicking sounds are heard when I turn the ignition key, but the engine does not turn. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Mike
Hello Michael,
I would probably say it is the battery.
How old is the battery?
What does the fluid level in the battery look like?
First, undo your cables and thoroughly clean your cables and posts with a metal brush. Reattach and try again.
If this does not work, then buy a new battery (or get one from another car) and see if it starts.
Good luck.
David
2nd vote for cables and connections. Battery would be next, then starter.

G'day Michael,
I agree with the Terminals and cables.
That is one of the problems with low mileage vehicles as they just deteriorate from not being constantly used.

Gentlemen: Many thanks for the responses and input. It did turn out to be the starter. Hats off to TJH!
