Crazy price for a car needing so much work.  That interior is from something else; definitely not '60 Eldo.
When I think I bought mine in Portland, OR, for $5000 ...in 1983 !  I guess I got in at  the right time.

Yes, but in 1983, $5,000.00 was worth a whole lot more than now.

A lot of money for a car missing a lot of pieces but try to find a 59 or 60 builder, good luck they just do not turn up all that often, that is a fair price.

Starting price was $1960. So, no crazy price, maybe crazy bidders, but if I had the money I might be right there with them. Looks like a good start to a nice project.

Right Bruce, but remember I was a Swiss resident at that time and I was "buying" my US dollars for 2.01 SFr each.  Last month I could have bought dollars for 1.01 SFr each, i.e. HALF the 1983 value, making the car worth HALF its dollar value to a Swiss buyer, today. I remember buying TWO Cadillacs, each for the same price ($5000) from the same vendor, in 1983.  The other was a superb, low-mileage 1959 Coupe de Ville [photo].  Try finding one like it today for $5K.

All relative to time and place and where you are in that time and place I guess. If we could all go back to 1960 we could buy them new for "only" $7500.
I had a small storage shed that was costing $20 a week each car. Two cars a week $40. Peanuts. But then I added up in 10 years that it was $20 000 and if I'd saved that the interest would make it more like $30 000.  .  . and if I'd put that money into Microsoft shares I'd be able to buy as many restored 1960 Biarritzs as I liked.
But heck I have had a lot of fun busting my knuckles in the meantime.
I think Cliff's car is a good buy for the money.   THere is that much and more in the parts alone. And whilst the buckets are not Cadillac upholstery they are certainly the same seat shell (obviously from a Buick, that didn't use the chrome trim on the back like Olds and Cad. Why would Buick skimp on the trim?). Codes say it is a correct bucket seat car.
