Hello,

I'm seeking assistance in identifying the auto in the attached picture. I'ts been suggested that the vehicle is a 1930 Cadillac.

Background - I work as a tour guide at Scotty's Castle in Death Valley National Park. We are doing a research project on the vehicles that the actual owner of the Castle - Albert Johnson - bought over his lifetime. The woman in the picture is his wife Bessie and if this is a 1930 then she would have been 58 y/o when the photo was taken so I have my doubts as she does not look that old.

Thanks for any help.

Hello Mike

We appreciate your intrest in identifying that vehicle. The expert in your area is John Washburn. You can reach him on his shoe phone john.washburn@att.net
All good men own a Cadillac but great gentlemen drive a LaSalle. That is the consequence of success.

I'm not so good on these earlier Cadillacs but 1929 to 1930 seems about right. Hubcaps were smaller before then and the chrome brackets on the visor were not used much after then unless it was a special body?

Hello Mike,

interesting question, from what I know from the '30 Cadillac's, the car part pictured, isn't a '30 Cadillac, the body moulds , the hubcap, the fenders moulds, the running board outer mould, the rear bumper corner,, all say no '30 Cadillac,  the sun visor looks to be Fleetwood but not sure.
I would think it's not a Cadillac, best advise I can give, put the picture on the AACA forum, there is your best chance you will get the answer you are looking for. Johan

I would guess that the car is a 1930 Chrysler Series 77 coupe.
