Please view the post in the Forum Support forum, it has a poll about making a dark mode (i.e. dark color screens instead of bright white) available. This can be of interest for those that access the forums from a mobile device as dark screens use less battery power. But we need to know whether enough people want this before investing the time to install an extra mode.

This pic was identified around July 2009 by the late, great Charles Barnette. It showed a meeting of a former Brougham Owners' Association, back in 1966.  Ross  Morgan may still have details/photos.

Yes, I forwarded this photo to this forum in July 2009.  I have the original photo which was taken by one of Brougham owners who said it was at "Michael's Restaurant in Los Feliz in LA".   I had to rework the photo to make it larger.  I can tell you that about 18 months ago, I took lots of photographs of Michael's Restaurant but couldn't conclusively match or not match the carpark.

However, since this time, I've talked about it to Rick Zeiger and have eyeballed documents that show the photograph is in fact a meeting at Monty's Steak house in Pasadena May 26th. 1963 (the back of the photo says Kodachrome Print "July 1963").  Monty's went out of business about 4 years ago (I am told).  Rick stated that this was the first business meeting of the 1st Brougham Owners Association and there were 36 Broughams and 75 people in attendance plus film and audio recordings of that event.  I do know that a book that the B.O.A. published was sent to GM to try to get them to continue making parts.   Incidently, May 26th 1963 was a Sunday.

The owner of the original photograph mentioned that B.O.A. members met at Michael's Restaurant and may have mistaken the photo as being there instead of Monty's.

Rick,

Not another drag race, that will get old if we continue to do that year after year after year.  Then other Brougham owners will want to play.  Next thing you know, we will have to lease a proper drag strip :o

Way cool.

I wonder where they all are now. Surprised to see a red one. Thought they had certain colors for these cars, but then I'm not an expert on them.

David King (kz78hy)

Roy,

There were certain colors only available to the Brougham, but all the rest of the Cadillac colors could be ordered on a Brougham as well.

I'd trade places with any one of them!

Wonder how many are the original owners and did all the cars survive...

In!   :)

The black 1958 Brougham closest to the camera is #641.  The reason I know this is because it was owned by the person who took the photo. In correspondence, he quoted the VIN to be 58P060545.  I looked up Yann's database table to get the body number.  David, do you have any details on 641?

Apparently, 36  x  57/58 Broughams showed up to this first meeting of the B.O.A.  Hmm, that's going to be tough to beat! How many of the survivors are drivers?  I know that in Australia, out of the approx. 20 Broughams here, I can count 5 that are drivers.  I wonder what the number of total drivers are?

All riveting stuff for Brougham guys!

Ross.

David King (kz78hy)

Hi Ross,

I've got nothing on 641, so we will have to wait for it to come out of the woodwork.

David

If you go through the club's "Cadillac Database", it should not be too difficult to pick out cars that are still running.
http://www.cadillacdatabase.org/Dbas_txt/Brg13a1a.htm
More difficult will be to identify those that are in good to very good condition.
At last count, earlier this year, there were an amazing 481 survivors out of the 704 cars of the 1957-58 generation (that's 68.3% of the total).
I think the only other "production cars" to equal or better that record are some bespoke Ferraris and Ettore Bugatti's "Royale"!
