1953 Cadillac heater-defroster-ventilator levers

I am trying to wire up the blower controls for a 1953 Cadillac coupe . Can anyone tell me what is supposed to happen as you operate the various controls ? Example, what switch operates and varies the speed of the fan motor under the hood and which switch operates the under the seat fan motor ? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
