My car came with the door "channels" that protect the wiring when the door is opened and closed; they mount on the door. Note on the image attached that where the wires enter the body, there is a rectangular opening that receives the wires. But, there are also two screw holes at the center of this opening and above and below it, that seems to suggest there was something meant to cover this hole, and receive the door wiring channel. Does anyone have knowledge of what that covering looks like? A picture perchance?  Regards,  Dan

There should be a metal cover for the wires.  As for the holes--they're on every '57 but there was no rubber boot or cover that went there.  They probably changed the design and never filled the holes.

Dan,
Those holes are for the two screws that attach a blank plate on series 62 cars that came without power windows. Frank

Frank,

That would make sense!  I never really paid too much attention to a series 62 without power windows.

That makes perfect sense. Thanks much for the info. Regards,   Dan

Just a point - make sure when you fix the wiring that there is sufficient length
of wire inside the door pillar to absorb the rather large intrusion
of the door wiring protector. Close the door with the protectors
fitted and you can check from inside the car.
My power windows stopped working - there was too much wiring
pulled into the door leaving too little in the door pillar resulting in
cut wires and a short when activating the window switch.
Not good....
