I noticed the base model (left) doesn't have fog lamps.

I was hoping that they doubled as cornering lamps like on some other high end cars.  But the window sticker mentions nothing about cornering lamps on any model XTS.

So does this mean there are no longer any Cadillacs made with cornering lamps?    A feature that was pioneered by Cadillac in 1962 and a standard item ever since?

This really sucks then.   I have always loved cornering lamps on my cars.   My DTS  has  great ones that throw a huge amount of light to the sides when turning at night.      Plus they really let the car next to you know when you are turning or making a lane change.  Far better than those little amber signals now on the front of the side mirrors.   How stupid is that?    The big red arrows on the mirror glass was far more noticable.    Why o why is Cadillac ruining our cars?

I like my Cadillac's to look like mine.........ha. You know its a Cadillac.
To me , the picture above , reminds me of a 1950's Nash Statesmen.
Why is it they can draw a nice looking concept car, but they cant make one.
Sorry, but thats just my opinion.

FYI The XTS Model is currently at your local Cadillac dealer.  The people lamenting the dismise of the DTS are probably the same ones who complained when the did away with wooden spoke wheels and running boards. You need to stop living in the past, and buy a NEW car once in a while. The old cars are great, but the new ones are much better.

Well Tom, since I'm spending my hard earned money, I'll buy something NEW
from Cadillac when they make something I like.

As far as the running boards and wooden spoke wheels -- GREAT IDEA!!
If Cadillac put these on a new model none of the kids would know what
they were and think it was the latest styling!  They'd sell a million of them!

Why don't you write to Cadillac styling and suggest this? ;)

You missed the point, If people like us don't support the NEW Cadillacs Gm will drop the Cadillac brand. Then there will be no "old" Cadillacs to buy and restore. Their fate is in our hands. Remember Oldsmobile & Pontiac.

Yeah, but Olds and Pontiac were some pretty ugly cars before they went.
Right now I think Buick is there best looking car.
I have been buying new cars since 79. My new one is now 6 months old. I do like the new ones in many models, but if they are over priced for what you get, I just cant see buying them.
There just isn't the same feeling like jumping in my 78 and taking it out. I see them as transportation only.
I really feel Cadillac, could do a much better job.

Um, no kidding.   I took that photo at my local Cadillac dealer.   I don't remember wooden spokes or running boards thankyou.   You missed the entire point of my post.    Why should us NEW Cadillac buyers be satisfied when they keep decontenting our cars?  We lost lamp monitors, We lost the automatic parking brake release, we lost the power trunk pull down.  Now we lost cornering lamps.     The rationale of "What is good for GM is good for America"  is what got the car company in trouble in the first place.

If we remain voiceless the bean counters will keep downgrading our beloved Cadillacs until we are all driving bland Lexus look-alikes.

Cadillac used to lead the world in features and technology.  Now they drop things to follow the imports.

I wrote to Cadillac and expressed my disappointment.    For those who can't be bothered, you deserve to get what they sell you.

Mike Josephic CLC #3877

Roy -- you hit the nail on the proverbial head -- Cadillac could and SHOULD
do a much better job.

Their cars are overpriced for what you get, look too much like many other
cars out there and there is no feeling of the "prestige" that there was in
former times.

I bought my first new Caddy in 1973 -- an Eldorado -- which I still own by
the way.  Getting in that car and taking her out is always a pleasure.

And Tom, no, I didn't miss the point.  A manufacturer of anything be it cars,
refrigerators, sewing machines, whatever only deserves your loyalty when
they provide value and a competitive advantage for your Dollar spent.  I
feel no obligation to support Cadillac.

They (GM) were bailed out by the US Government once and they seem to
be mainly preocupied with making "world market" cars.  Witness their activities
and major investments in China (yes, Cadillac too).

Cadillac has forgotten their customer base, their roots, their culture and it
WILL come back to haunt them.  They should have management smart
enough to see it coming and change their ways before they go down the same
path as Pontiac and Oldsmobile.  However, I don't see any evidence of that
happening yet.

Mr. Landyacht

Thanks for your comments. Hopefully when the XTS arrives I will have the best of both worlds old and new. I just finished the day cruising in my 69 Sedan De Ville. I'll keep you posted.

"To each their own " I guess. They just don't trip my trigger. The last one that did it for me was the 89 .
A lot of people dont care for my 78, but to me it is heaven to drive.
