I am still in dire need for some parts for my 1937 LaSalle tranny, particularly the syncro gear. Can anyone help me with parts, and does anyone know if parts from any other year will work in the 37? Thanks for your Help!

Steve Passmore

37 is the last of the floor change trans.  I'm told some parts will interchange but no idea which ones.  the last floor change on eBay went for over £1200, sadly you, like the rest of us 37 owners are in competition with hotroders past and present for these box's.  Some of the transmission specialists might help with bits.

Chet- the 1937 floor shift , all later side shift trans AND the 1950 Oldsmobile all use the same synchronizer (#3505546). This 1940 number superceded the 1937 (3502509) and 1938-39 (3504090) numbers. It may be, as rumour has it, that the later number is stronger in some way, but I doubt you would ever notice any difference- IF you can find one somewhere.

Thats interesting to know Mike, Ill keep a note of that myself. The side shifters are relatively easy to find, I have one myself in pieces. Any other parts interchangeable that you know of?

Steve- Offhand, I can't tell you what will interchange, but I can tell you what is definitely unique to the 37-and that is the clutch and main shafts which pilot together using the infamous cage bearing. I have utilized the main side-shift parts in a 37 box to get the later needle bearings, but the project to use it didn't come to pass-(yet??), so can't say if mine will work SILENTLY, but the practise of doing that conversion was occasionally done in ancient times ( 50s-60s- one didn't usually have to rebuild boxes when you could go to your friendly junk yard and get another)
