It still shows the Reserve not met, so I would have thought, from past experiences, the initial "High" bid should have gone straight to that bid.

They must have changed things recently.

When I first clicked on link and saw South Florida the first thing that came to mind was luvdog, I was expecting to read about how it was on a 1958 frame with and the only 59 body on a 58 frame from the factory and the tire kit was a design by an engineer at Boeing by special commission for General Charles Degaull oh and it has a factory installed DVD player from 1958.

But seriously, I think the tire kit and extension just doesn't look right from the side view, it doesn't blend in well and an obvious add on even if put on when new and it doesn't do the 59 fins justice. Like others suggested, seller might have been better to remove kit and sell them separably or offer it to winning bidder first. Car is re-listed and already at $62k with reserve not met, sometimes I'll see people not accept high bid if it doesn't met reserve only to have to sell it for less weeks later, as they say a bird n the hand is worth 2 in the bush.

I rarely bid on reserve auctions, I feel like I'm bidding against myself, sometimes if it's a car with no other bids I'll bid $1 just for fun.

I think if none of the bids are above the reserve, the bids advance at the predetermined bid increment.

Let's say you and I are bidding on an item with a $100.00 reserve, starting at $1.00.

You bid $5.00.  It will sow as 1 bid, $1.00.

I come along and bid $66.00, as this is what I would like to pay as a max.

The bid is now at $2.00 (bid increment is $1.00 at this level).

Anyone else bidding under $67.00 will automatically be outbid by me, and Ebay's proxy syste, will automatically raise my bid by a dollar because I put in $66.00.

If I really want the item and put in $108.88 as my top bid, I think it would jump to the reserve amount of $100.00, but if someone waited until the last few seconds and bid $106.00 I would still win at $107.00.

What will the history show in that case?

me 1
you 2
me 5
you 6

IF I then raise my bid to 50 while yours is still 66 what will show?
Someone else bids 60 what will show?
That someone else raises to 100 before you put in your 108?

If you bid to 50, it goes to me being high bidder at $51.00.
As long as I have entered $66.00 you have to get to $67.00 to outbid me.
If reserve is 100.00 and you bid $100.00 it goes to $100.00 reserve met.
If I bid 108.88 and you bid $105.00 at the same exact time in the last few seconds of the auction, I win for $106.00.

I get that part I am always trying to figure things out from what it shows.

If you have the current bid at $5 and your max was $50, I bid $6 will it show me even though you will then have the bid at $7?
Then say I bid $45 will it show the $1 steps or will it just jump to you at $46?  Or what if I went up to $55 after my $6 bid will it show you at all after the $7 or will it just jump to me having it at $51?

Having a reserve then changes what shows?  If the reserve in the above was $30 or $75?  I get if it was $30 that as soon as I went to 45 you could have won it for 46 but would the history look any different?
