Hi, I'm trying to locate in particular the hood front lip trim and a trunk lock cover for my restoration project. I also need to replace the chrome trim around the taillight lens in the taillight assembly. Can anyone tell me if the lens trim pieces are available as seperate items or is it easier to get hold of the taillight assembly? Sincere thanks to anyone who may be able to help me, Dave Woollas

Hi Dave

The 70 Eldorado tail light in a one year design, so parts will be hard to find.    Probably better to get the trim on a complete lamp assembly than in pieces.

Watch the US Ebay for parts.

As for other parts, try these guys: http://www.opgi.com/searchpart.asp?level=0&vehicle=cadillac&year=1970&keyword=eldorado

Thanks for info David I'll give them a try. I'm very keen to restore this beautiful lady as much as I can, I've had the car for a few years now and did have some urgent work done on the bodywork but unfortunately the guy doing the job let me down on the paint job? The finish wasn't the quality I'd been promised. It was ok but not brilliant so she's ready for a better job. I'm trying to get all mechanical jobs done before the respray.
Your car looks absolutely beautiful. I've had the pleasure of driving a large variety of vehicles but this Caddy is the best drive ever.
Thanks once again for your help.
Sincere regards,
Dave

Dave,
The hood lip typically breaks at the ends and I assume that's why you are wanting to replace yours.  Mine was broken when I bought my car and I had the broken off piece, so I cut some coat hanger wire, scuffed the wire and back of the parts, and epoxied them together.  It held well until a shipping driver broke it again.  This part is a one year only item and is tough to find, and the fix might help make the wait to find a replacement a little more bearable.  I live in a good part of the US for finding these cars with good chrome and I will let you know if I find a good replacement.

Hi Aaron, You hit the nail right on the head, when I got the car the right hand side corner (as you look at the car) of the trim was badly cracked so I secured it with bit of wire and metal resin similar to what you did. Worked great for few years until very extreme weather hit us this year. Noticed it was a little loose, car went into garage for it's annual MOT(Ministry of Transport) safety test, all ok and took it for a run round the block and when I parked at home I noticed corner of trim was missing. They're good lads at the garage, we checked right thro' floors, bins etc, took numerous trips along the route but no joy. I was gutted and still kicking my butt for not doing it before it went into the garage. So even if I got hold of a corner piece to trim it would be great.

Thanks so much for looking out for me.

Sincere thanks,

Dave
