Hi,

I am new to the club, having acquired a 1940 Lasalle 50 series coupe. The car is in good original condition with no rust and old lacquer paint. I am missing the stainless steel side trim for both doors and both quarter panels, and the running boards.

I would like to put the missing pieces on the car and enjoy her the way she is. I may be reached at 347-701-5020.

Thank you,

Matthew Hinson

Hello Matthew

Congratulations on your new acquisition!

You have purchased a beautiful 1940 LaSalle 5027. Please evaluate and share interior, chassis, body plate and engine pictures for us to assist. We look forward to your membership and participation with a region near your residence.
All good men own a Cadillac but great gentlemen drive a LaSalle. That is the consequence of success.

Do you intend to keep it or flip it? Was curious as to where you were from. Thought we could put you in touch with other LaSalle owners in your area, but a Google search turns up several cars you are selling... like a Jeep, a Toyota, etc. Just curious.

Thank you for the welcome. I think the body number is 1395. I am on long island. I think I will keep the car for a while. I have a 1925 Franklin that I enjoy a lot. I like the brass and nickel cars. I do not have any cars for sale at the moment, but occasionally do buy, drive, and sell a car. I wish I had several cars for sale but I do not, I only own 3, a 1918 buick is the third one that I acquired recently.

Going to put a fuel pump in it today. Luckily the tank was drained before it was stored!

Hi Matthew, Back when I was helping a friend find items for a 1939 LaSalle I vaguely remember that the 1939/40 Buick trim might be the same for the hood/doors/ and quarter panels. (And don't forget the 4" long cowl piece.) Can someone verify this, as there are lots more Buicks out there than LaSalles.

Hi Barry, That is a good lead. I found the pieces from the cowl forward, just need the door and quarters now. Thank you!

I was studying the photos of the 40 lasalle trim which is a rather smooth profile and the 40 buick trim that I found for sale on ebay. The buick trim appears to be a different profile, although it would probably fit on the car. If I found a full set of the buick trim that would be an option, although it would be a shame having acquired half of the required pieces already for the lasalle!

It seems from my research that the rear quarter pieces are the same from coupe to the 4 door. Any would be welcome. In addition it appears that I can make the door pieces from the hood pieces which are more common I imagine. Please feel free to respond with any leads.
