How do these keyed door lock assemblys on the drivers side and passenger side stay in place? I inserted them and they were in but for what ever reason they came out one day when I was driving. I found one but it's beat up now and couldn't find the other. If anyone have any extras I need to replace mine now :-\ Thanks

There was a retainer which was a flat piece of springy steel with a hole in it for the lock cylinder. I think that these were the same on all GM cars. You can still buy them from some of the Chevrolet parts vendors

These spring clips fit to the inside of the door panel as I recall.

They slip under the door seal gasket.

[/i][/b]Attaching photo of the spring clip, it is in the upper right. Try Eddie Jones in Minneapolis, MN (612) 724-7539.

Are we talking about the same thing? I found this pic of what I am talking about. This is the part that fell out of the door. I cant seem to find any access to secure these. Admittedly I know nothing about these. I just lined up the long rod on the back of the lock with the corresponding shaped hole inside the mechanism and stuck it in.  :o Thanks for the help

That's where you went wrong then Andy, the locks are held by the flat clip in Virgils picture, its the rectangle piece with the hole in the middle, as he said in the upper right of his picture.  With the interior door panel off they slide over a lip on the back of your lock against the inside of the door skin. There is nothing else to hold them otherwise as you have found out.

Here is a picture from the body service manual that shows where that metal clip slides in behind the weatherstrip to hold the lock in the door.      Bill

I think I noticed some on eBay. You'll have to have a locksmith key them to fit your keys. (Trunk and glove box I believe.)
