I just purchased a nice 41 Sedanette in Tennessee and intend shipping it back here to Australia in a couple of weeks or so.
Unfortunately, it has the wire hubcaps used in the early 50's cars and I am feeling ill!
Does anyone have a good set of hubcaps and beauty rings to sell?  I don't mind paying a decent price for decent hubcaps.
Thanks,
Graham.

Graham, You may have to buy them one by one to get a mint set. The "dog dishes" are everywhere, but usually pretty banged up. You may find beauty rings on Buick or Chevrolet sites. The full sized wheel covers (15")are authentic and available from several places. You may paint your wheels Vincennes Red, or green, or black to be authentic on a black car. I used 1960s Ford engine red for a close match. Should you join the Club, member Ron Bennett restored the 1941 museum 60S and used the green on his wheels. He is from Ohio and you could find the match for the green from him. Both colors will show behind either the small or larger wheel caps/covers.

Good luck. You have the twin to my first car in 1958.

I've been trying to find one hub cap, not full disk, and haven't had any luck. It's making me crazy. I wish I could help you with what you need. Barry, as usual, has very good advice.

I may be able to help a bit. Do you need 15 or 16 inch? If 16 inch I have four reasonable condition "beauty rings" or trim rings for you. They are stainless steel with some small dents. Banging out the small dents and polishing them will bring them back.

1941 is on 15" wheels Joe.

I thought that might be the case by Barry's post but was hopeful.

Graham,

Do you know what they look like? I have a set that came with my second '37 and they are definitely later than '37. They are also a lot closer to you than any others!

Thanks all for your help.  I think the wheels are 15". I intend painting them red (I think).  I will try and find out what it came with and will stick to that color if not red.
I think I may have a set of small caps now. I am waiting on confirmation. I have not seen the full cap and I did not know they were available in 41.
I would like a 41 Data Book but I know they are hard to get original. I did manage to get the beauty rings.
I am a member in Australia but I will join the US site.
Thanks again,
Graham.

Full caps are available back to 1937.       Mc Veys used to offer repros of the full ones and also a set for 41 consisting of small caps and beauty rings.
Nice car Graham, I was bidding on it too. Guess you offered more than I did to buy it now. I'm sure you'll have great fun with it.

Graham, there are reproduction copies of the Data book on eBay right now. I love original stuff, but paying five or six times what you can get the repro for means only you have XXX amount of money left to spend on the car(s).

For instance, SMS has (evidently) rewoven the standard cloth for the Series 61 and 62 cars. Of course, if yours is the deluxe model with the stainless trim on the doors and seat bottoms, you might wish to opt for Bedford Cord if you have a problem with the seats as you mentioned in your PM.

I have had two of these, and used them both as daily drivers back in the day when we still did such things. Luckily, my wife put up with learning to drive in a 1948 Buick Super, and all of the myriad Cadillacs I drug home, each one being "The one I always wanted." When I finally leased a 1995 SDV for her, our badge bar on the grill had the # "39" on it.

Hi John,
Please send me your email address and I will send a pic of what they should look like.

I may have 4 small hub caps but no beauty rings or medallions.  Do you still need them?  If so, send me a separate email at jaysfriedman@yahoo.com   I could then take photos of them and send them in a separate email to you.

They are for a 1949 Cadillac and my Master Parts List says '41 Cads used the same small hub caps.  However, you had better confirm this with a '41 expert, which I'm not.

Jay, they were the same from 1941 to 1952, and perhaps even 1953. Stopped in '54 when no small caps were supplied.
