I am looking for a seat backrest that is salvageable. I have the classic too long legs and too many good meals syndrome and am looking for a seat to modify so I can fit in my LaSalle and drive it safely and comfortably.

My car is a 5019-4 door convertible and has a fixed bulkhead behind the front seat.  I do not want to modify my seat for future authenticity reasons but if I can buy a seat or just the backrest I can modify it to suit my long legs and ample figure.  I do not know if any other series 50's have the bulkhead but the seats should still be about the same.

Gary, for something like this, always go for the "other" easier to find GM cars with your same body shell. I.E. 1939/40 Buick Centu8ry/Special, Ditto Olds, ditto Pontiac. Good luck.

Thanks Barry,

I wonder if the seat frames are the same in different models?  My 1942-6719 has a tag saying body by Fisher  interior by Fleetwood.  I already have extra seat for the Cadillac so I can modify one and still have an authentic one for future authenticity issues.

Now to solve the issue of the LaSalle.

Hello Gary

Glad to read your LaSalle is coming home.

The suggestion by Barry is wonderful. Open the scope to improve the seat range. Thank you.
All good men own a Cadillac but great gentlemen drive a LaSalle. That is the consequence of success.

Chuck, would the model 52 seat be the same ? If so, I have one here in Reno.

Hello Jack

I'm certain the 1940 LaSalle 52 Series interior is identical to the same year 62 Series Cadillac. More elaborate with different materials than the 1940 LaSalle 50 Series models.  The armrest may be identical.

Gary, if you plan to cut it up anyway?,you should be able to make another one from a similar car work. The exact one might be a little harder to find. Harvey
