For those looking to replace the rubber pad on your accelerator pedal on 1940 and 41's the Steele catalog is wrong on the part call out.  The one listed for 40 (70-0407-40) is not even close to being correct.  It is the wrong size and wrong rubber pattern.  It is exactly correct for a 41-60S and maybe other models 41 and up.  The one listed for 41 (70-0208-40) is identical looking to the one listed for 40 but it is a little longer.  I have verified with two people that have 41-60S's that the shorter one is correct for that model.  I do not have enough information for 41 and up to verify other models.  Maybe others will be able to do that.  The one listed for 38 and 39 is also correct for 40, both LaSalle and Cadillac.  It is part number 70-0275-40.  It is slightly short but it works and looks good.   I have given all of the above info to Steele but am not sure what they will do with it.  They did agree that the 40 LaSalle has the same pad as the 40 Cadillac contrary to the note in the catalog on part 70-0407-40.  The only problem is this part is wrong for both.

It must be somewhat of a nightmare for them to keep their product <> fitment straight. I hope they listen to you in this regard. I also wish their prices where a bit lower.
