1942 Cadillac VIN Number

I needing help finding the VIN number on a 1942 Cadillac we are getting ready to restore.
Where should I look to find it?

Sorry, but they switched to the RH passenger side on the 42's. Just ahead of the cowl. The engine # is easy, right above the water pump.
