The 68 thru 73 (maybe some 74's w/o HEI) power steering pulley was dual grove.  Does not seem right that 64-67 which are single grove would be same part.  I think only Cadillac used the dual grove compressor clutch pulley system with matching drive pulley and ps pulley during this six year plus run.  If a dual grove ps pulley is found, should be for a Cadillac.  The power steering pump could be same from 64-73 for sure, not pulley.

1963 and 1964 Cadillacs came with a single groove pulley. You can see pictures at this link: http://6364cadillac.ning.com/photo/albums/power-steering-pump-pictures

These illustrations from the 1967 Master Parts book depict the 1963 to 1967 pulleys in pretty nice detail.

Those power steering pumps seem to last forever, if you don't run them dry.  I found
it much easer to just get another complete pump at the 'yard, than to work on one.

I already had the new pump on the shelf, but not the pulley! I was just going to pull the old pulley off and put it on the new pump...or so I thought! LOL! Man, I REALLY tweaked that old pulley! And I ALMOST banged it back into shape with a hammer...almost!   Live and Learn!

The most frustrating part was trying to find a new one...or used one for that matter. I knew that pulley was used on many GM cars...but every place I called started with..."I can't find the part unless you tell me the year, make and model of your car!"  Even online...as soon as put in 1968 Cadillac...."no search results".

Then I tried ebay...(cue angelic choir)...and there it was! And the seller was an actual brick-and-mortar store who had the part IN STOCK!  And only 39.99 NEW! And in Corona, Ca, only 50 miles away...but almost a two hour drive EACH way in normal Southern California traffic! So, we had lunch in Corona! LOL!

I took the pumps with me to make sure I was getting the right pulley ...and the guy even gave me a new nut to hold the pulley on the shaft.

Got the part home and after fiddling with the woodruff key for about 10 mins, got it all put back together and in the car...and it hasn't leaked a drop!

Steve,

I think only Cadillac used this double groove pulley.  The GM Chev, Pontiac, Olds and Buick did not as compressor was way over on passenger side generally, but not always.  A/C was much more of an option on non-Cadillac GM in 1968, and it was almost standard on Cadillac from 1968 on, you don't see too many non a/c Cadillacs after 1968.  The Cadillac design of compressor mount bolted to intake manifold is so durable, brilliant.

This is how I take the pulleys off, since I don't reuse the pumps.   I use an air hammer with a brass tipped head. Center on the shaft, ant usually just a few whacks and it pops right off. No damage to the pulley.
